End of Summer Sun Damage Review

sun damage reviewAfter end of the heatwave and with the approach of autumn, now is the time to review your skin for signs of sun damage.

As we’ve had the best summer for decades (possibly ever!), most of us have made the most of the weather with more time in the garden, day trips out and outdoor activities.

So this year more than ever it’s important to take a look at any signs of sun damage which can make the skin look older or unappealing.

Sun Exposure and the Skin

The sun is the number one cause of premature ageing and can contribute to a host of ageing signs, including:

  • Premature lines/wrinkles/creases as UVA and UVB rays can break down the skin’s internal collagen, leading to premature ageing
  • Pigmentation problems e.g. age spots, sun spots, liver spots, freckles, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, melasma, patchy discoloration, uneven complexion
  • Poor skin texture – dry, leathery, open or enlarged pores
  • Rosacea caused by small blood vessels or veins, creating red blotches and bumps
  • General dullness, lack of radiance and a host of other skin concerns

This year, many of us will have spent more time in the sun than we’ve managed in previous years and that exposure to UVA/UVB rays does take its toll. Short bursts in the garden or running errands without sunscreen expose unprotected skin to even more damage.

Treating Sun Damage

The good news is that with early intervention and professional treatments, we can now achieve some very impressive results in tackling sun damage.

We’re particularly pleased with the results of our latest innovation – Tixel thermal fractional rejuvenation – which uses the heat energy instead of lasers or injections to achieve remarkable results in improving pigmentation problems and boosting collagen production for fresher and smoother looking skin.
