Non-Surgical Neck Lift

The neck area can be one of the biggest giveaways of age.

Neck skin is thin and delicate, which means that the area is quick to show signs of ageing. As well as lines and creases, the main concerns relate to general sagginess and loose skin, creating a real loss of definition around the jawline. Any weight gain can stretch the skin further and add pressure to the tissues, while weight loss leaves the skin looking thin and loose.

The neck is traditionally a very difficult area to treat without surgery due to the low amount of natural collagen. However, the latest generation of injectable and high tech skin treatments have created exciting new opportunities for non-invasive neck rejuvenation.

Non-Surgical Neck Treatments

Our choice of non-surgical procedures are quick and easily tolerated. There is no lengthy recovery and risks/complications are minimal. Above all, the results appear natural, fresh and youthful with results that last up to 2 years depending on the treatment chosen.

There are 2 types of non-surgical neck rejuvenation treatments which can be chosen or combined according to each individual patient’s requirements.

‘Structural’ – Cosmetic Injections that ‘Lift’

A range of injectable treatments are available which, in skilled hands, can work to address the sagginess in the skin. This approach improves and redefines the structure of the face for a sharper profile with smoother skin. Treatment options include:

  • Profhilo – a unique hyaluronic acid injectable product which was specifically designed to treat loose skin, making it ideal for lifting and toning the neck. Profhilo adds structure within the skin to support and lift the tissues for a more youthful profile
  • Dermal Fillers – advanced use of hyaluronic acid injections can be very effective in rejuvenating the neck by providing more structure to lift loose neck skin
  • Jawline fillers (including Radiesse) – dermal fillers placed to improve definition of the jawline will, by association, improve the appearance of the neck, lifting the tissues and smoothing the skin
  • Botulinum toxin – careful placement of anti-wrinkle injections using BOTOX or Bocouture can be applied to reduce ‘neck bands’ caused by overactive muscle activity. Once the neck bands are more relaxed, the facial muscles can pull upwards, creating a more youthful and defined neck and jawline. This is sometimes referred to as the ‘Nefertiti Lift’

‘Textural’ – Treatments for Tighter and Smoother Skin

These options are designed to stimulate the skin’s own renewal processes, resulting in smoother, tighter and fresher skin. The options below trigger cell renewal and collagen production within the skin itself, which gently rejuvenates the area over the following weeks for a smoother, firmer and tighter complexion.

  • Mesotherapy – use of a series of tiny injections of a special solution containing over 70 ingredients which are known to influence metabolism of hyaluronic acid and collagen. Mesotherapy boost blood flow and stimulates renewal
  • Tixel – thermal fractional rejuvenation treatment uses pure heat – no chemicals or injections – to stimulate the skin through a process of miniature injuries to the skin in order to trigger its healing processes
  • Resurfx – laser skin resurfacing using our latest technology. This fractional non-ablative treatment delivers laser energy right to the dermis, where it triggers collagen renewal for smoother, tighter skin
  • IPL – our medical-grade intense pulsed light treatment penetrates to the skin’s deeper layers, where it warms the tissues, stimulating production of collagen and elastin as well as cell renewal

Non-Surgical Neck Lift FAQ

The non-surgical neck treatment can achieve a number of benefits:

  • Improve and tighten the neck tissues
  • Redefine the jawline/chin area
  • Improve skin texture, making it smoother
  • Stimulate of collagen production for firmer, tighter skin
  • Reduce fat

The techniques to rejuvenate neck tissue are generally quite tolerable with only brief discomfort. For more intensive techniques, we can use a numbing gel or local anaesthetic injection if required.

Afterwards the treated area may feel a little tight or uncomfortable. Standard painkillers may be used if necessary.

This will depend on the treatment being carried out. Most are under an hour.

This will depend on the treatment being carried out. For more intensive procedures, we might recommend a day at home while your skin is settling down, but for others, you might be able to fully resume normal activities straightaway.

This will be fully discussed in your consultation so that you know what to expect and can plan treatment around any other commitments.

The results of a neck treatment using cosmetic injections, laser or IPL could last anything from around 9 months to 2 years.

When the results wear off, the procedure can be repeated.

With dermal filler injection procedures, you will see the impact immediately.

However, IPL or laser treatments build up a benefit more gradually, as treatment stimulates collagen production. This will take around 6 months to properly build up. Over time, collagen production and healing within the skin make it look tighter and firmer with a more youthful radiance.

This will depend on your procedure. Aftercare is included and if there are any concerns, patients can always get in touch. That is the case with all procedures offered at Mulberry House Clinic.

The average age of patients contemplating the non-surgical neck treatment is 40-60. However, we do see older patients who are looking for improvement to their neck area.

Those who have lost significant amounts of weight can also benefit and this could include patients as young as their 20’s who have been left with loose skin after weight loss.

Using any non-surgical treatment has a number of advantages vs a full surgical neck lift.

It is a lot cheaper for a start, costing a fraction of the cost of surgery. That is because it is a far simpler procedure for the patient. There is no need for a hospital stay, no general anaesthetic, no theatre costs, no surgical team and no post-operative nursing. All these are expensive considerations.

The procedure is also a lot safer. Surgery is in itself more complex with higher risks of infection and other complications.

The procedures are carried out at Mulberry House Clinic and patients can return straight home afterwards.

The key benefit of surgery over a non-surgical treatment is that excess skin is literally removed, tightening the area. This makes for a more dramatic result. When the neck area is extremely loose and saggy, surgery may be the best option for addressing it.  However, there are downsides to surgery, such as a long recovery, higher risks/complications, greater cost and the fact that it is irreversible.

For most patients, we feel that the non-surgical route is a better solution. However, where we feel that surgery is the best way forward for a patient, Dr John Tanqueray will explain this and recommend accordingly.

Yes, we carry out a full consultation with all our patients before any treatment – even those who’ve been coming to Mulberry House Clinic for years. This will include a review of relevant medical history and past treatments together with discussion of what you are trying to achieve. After this, we can recommend the most appropriate treatment.

The exact price will depend on the number of treatment used, which is determined by what you are trying to achieve. We confirm costs at the consultation, but you can see our pricing page for more information.

“We find that the jawline and the neck areas are among the most successful and satisfying to treat. Treatments can be used either for structural improvement, lifting the tissues; or purely for textural improvement to smooth and improve the skin in the neck, and we have seen good results with this.”
