Dr John Tanqueray attended the Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress last month. Here he shares the latest skin trends and developments.

John says:

“Although it gets harder to find new nuggets, there were some presentations that have given him some useful ideas.”

Key points from the World Congress in Monaco

Skin quality treatments

John says:

“There has been a growing emphasis over recent years on the importance of skin complexion and quality – smooth and even skin tone is universally seen as desirable across all cultures and arguably makes more impact than lines and wrinkles. There are now plenty of effective options for delivering this, whether via high-quality skincare, injectables or devices such as laser, IPL or ultrasound.. All can be effective and of course our aim is to advise on the best option for a particular individual.

“A particularly interesting treatment that we have been using in a small way up to now is Gouri – a collagen-stimulating liquid injectable.

“It offers improvement after just one treatment, and in addition has shown promising improvement in skin problems such as rosacea and melasma.”

Neck treatments

Traditionally, societal beauty standards and marketing for anti-aging products have placed a heavy emphasis on the face. This can lead patients and providers alike to prioritise facial rejuvenation over the neck. However, the skin on the neck is thinner and less elastic than facial skin. This makes it more prone to wrinkles, creasing, and sagging, but also more sensitive to harsh products or procedures. Improving the appearance of the neck is a real opportunity.

Dr John Tanqueray says:

“Treatments for improving laxity or crepiness in the neck have been emerging over recent years, and there are now some well-established treatments and techniques that can make a real difference in the appropriate patient.

“Again the newer product Gouri has shown promise in this area too.”

Psychological factors

Dr John Tanqueray welcomed the increased recognition of psychological factors in aesthetic treatments and the concerns around protecting the patients best interests. He commented:

“It was pleasing to see more focus than ever before on psychological factors that can lead to over-treatment, and safety.”

At Mulberry House Clinic, we understand that the decision to pursue aesthetic treatments is often driven by more than just physical appearance. Many patients seek our expertise because of the psychological impact a desired change can have on their self-esteem and confidence. We’re also aware of how negative body image, societal pressures, and age-related anxieties are all common factors that can influence the decision to explore aesthetic options.

By addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of your goals, we can work with our clients to achieve a result that empowers from within.

Our holistic approach prioritises open communication to uncover underlying motivations and desired outcomes in order to deliver treatment that is safe, effective and never ‘too much’.

Skin consultation

If you’re considering a skin treatment or change of skincare regime, the best starting point is to have a consultation. This will include a comprehensive examination of your skin and discussion of your concerns and expectations as well as your budget. Only then can we recommend a programme of skincare and/or treatment which is tailor-made to your individual requirements.

Contact our team to arrange an appointment and we’d be happy to discuss what might be best for you.
