Tear Trough Fillers

The delicate under-eye area is often the first to show signs of aging. As we lose volume in this region, shadows and hollowness can appear, creating a tired and dull look. Tear trough treatment with dermal fillers offers a safe and effective solution to restore a youthful, refreshed appearance.

What are Tear Troughs?

Tear troughs are the natural creases that run from the inner corner of your eye down to your cheek. They become more noticeable with age as we lose collagen and elastin, the proteins that provide our skin with structure and elasticity.

Additionally, genetic factors and lifestyle habits like sun exposure, smoking, stress and insufficient sleep can all contribute to the deepening of tear troughs.

What is Tear Trough Filler Treatment?

The procedure also referred to as ‘tear troughs’ involves careful addition of dermal fillers to smooth out the under eye area. It is ideal for patients who are looking to address issues such as

  • Hollowness under their eyes.
  • Shadows and/or dark circles.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

The treatment can help to achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

Benefits of Tear Trough Fillers

Tear trough fillers are an excellent way of troubleshooting under eye hollows, dark circles and other tear trough issues. Advantages of the treatment include:

  • Reduced Shadowing and Darkness:
Fillers effectively plump the under-eye area, diminishing the appearance of dark circles and shadows that contribute to a tired look.
  • Smoother Under-Eye Area:
By filling in the hollows, tear trough fillers smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, creating a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
  • Enhanced Volume and Definition:
Restoring volume in the tear troughs helps define the cheek-to-eye transition, resulting in a more balanced and harmonious facial profile.
  • Minimal Downtime:
Tear trough filler treatment is a minimally invasive procedure with minimal downtime. Most patients can resume their daily activities right after the treatment.
  • Natural-Looking Results:
When performed by a skilled and experienced injector, tear trough fillers can achieve natural-looking results that subtly enhance your features without appearing overdone.

Tear trough alternatives

Tear trough fillers are not always the best solution. Many providers refuse to treat them as they are a more advanced procedure. At Mulberry House Clinic, we do have the skills and experience treat this area in the right patient; but approach it with caution and first focus on maximising improvement using fillers in the surrounding areas, as well as considering other options such as:

You’ll always get the best advice for safe and effective treatment.

Whole-Face Rejuvenation

While tear trough fillers are a popular and effective option for treating the eye area, The at Mulberry House Clinic, they’re often done as part of a more holistic multi-point facelift. Paying attention not just to a specific area but the whole facial context often gives a better result. Dr John Tanqueray, founder of Mulberry House Clinic, explains:

Dr Tanqueray“When high-quality filler products are used in the right way you should look refreshed and natural, and nobody should need to know that you have had any treatment.

“At Mulberry House Clinic we want people complimenting you on how well you look, not asking you where you got your treatment done!

FAQ

Tear trough fillers is certainly an advanced procedure and care should be taken to select a practitioner who is highly experienced in this area. They need to understand the fine anatomy and potential medical issues as well as the aesthetic harmony.

You may find our Guide To Choosing Your Treatment Provider a useful source of information.

In the right hands, it is highly effective and safe.

Our dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid gels that offer a choice to suit the area to be treated and the depth of effect required. The addition of local anaesthetic minimises discomfort during the treatment process.

We use temporary dermal fillers including the latest long-lasting options; we don’t offer permanent fillers at all and would advise against these.

At Mulberry House Clinic, we have chosen a range of market-leading fillers from established manufacturers with incredible safety profiles for your peace of mind:

Dr John Tanqueray comments:

“Having over 20 different fillers to choose from allows us to tailor treatment towards your individual features for a pleasing and natural result.”

Modern dermal fillers are clear hyaluronic acid gels that are injected to add volume under the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally within the skin and holds water to create volume. It depletes with age, but replenishing it with dermal fillers is a treatment that has good rejuvenation results.

In our experience dermal filler injections offer an easily-tolerated treatment with minimal if any downtime.

The dermal filler gels used at Mulberry House Clinic give a very soft and smooth natural feel so that you do not see or feel anything foreign in the skin.

Effects are immediate – you’ll see the difference straight away. You may have some localised swelling or redness, which will pass in a day or so.

Dermal filler prices vary depending on the brand, type and quantity of dermal filler used. It is worth bearing in mind that when used correctly a little filler product can make a big impact. See our price list for information about costs of treatment.

As outlined above, we often advocate tear trough treatment as part of a wider facial rejuvenation treatment. Focusing on the whole face rather than one specific area gives a more natural result, as it is not obvious that one area has been treated at the expense of another.

In terms of eye rejuvenation, we also have excellent results with Tixel® Thermal Fractional Rejuvenation, a treatment that uses heat to trigger the body’s own cell regeneration responses for tighter, smoother skin with fewer visible lines.
