Our skin is the largest organ in the body and the only one that is visible externally! That’s why we can feel so self-conscious or embarrassed when problems with the skin appear.
Healthy skin is bright, even-coloured, smooth, firm, and blemish-free. We generally have excellent, clear skin until our teenage years but after this hormonal changes and later the effects of ageing, sun exposure and pollutants can lead to skin becoming dull, thin, lax, rough, dry and blemished.
While worries about how our skin looks can start in the teens, they then can carry on be replaced by other concerns as we seek to solve any problems affecting the health or appearance of our skin.

The good news is that there are effective ways of restoring healthy function to the skin to make it behave more like our younger skin. As well as giving very pleasing results on its own, this has been shown to enhance the results from any other cosmetic treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers or laser.
The areas that tend to cause most concern are the face of course, but also the neck, chest and hands – these areas are on show and so are also most prone to sun damage.
There is increasing evidence to suggest that good skincare will reduce the risk of developing skin cancers, even in people that have already had skin cancer.
