dermalux logoHow does it sound to have a treatment that is genuinely and absolutely pain-free and results in zero downtime? Well here it is…

Dermalux™ LED Phototherapy is a non-invasive treatment that harnesses the power of pure light to accelerate the skin’s natural healing, rejuvenation and repair processes.  It has been clinically proven effective for a wide range of skin concerns including:

  • Anti-Ageing/Skin Rejuvenation (lines and wrinkles)
  • Restoring Radiance/Complexion
  • Environmentally Damaged Skin (sun or wind damage)
  • Acne, Problem Skin
  • Pigmentation, Rosacea, Redness
  • Eczema, Psoriasis, Dermatitis
  • Wound Healing, Scarring

Treatment is suitable for all skin types.

LED Treatment

LED therapy is pain free and a relaxing treatment experience without any downtime.

The visible effects are immediate; after the first session, the LED rays revive tired and dull skin and start to work on irritation, redness and other problems by stimulating the skin’s healing and regeneration responses. The skin appears plumper and better hydrated.

While results are visible after just one session, a course of treatments is usually advisable for more dramatic and long-lasting results.

Dermalux™ LED treatment works effectively as a stand-alone treatment, although it may also be combined with other cosmetic treatments.

LED Skin Treatment FAQs

Over time, healthy skin cells become unable to renew themselves normally. This may be due to a skin problem or else simply a consequence of sun exposure or ageing.

LED light is absorbed by the skin where it activates specific cellular processes to produce a therapeutic effect.

Dermalux™ LED Phototherapy uses clinically proven wavelengths to recharge these cells energising them to heal quicker and rejuvenate faster, promoting healing from the inside out. The cell metabolism then builds collagen, increases elasticity, boosts circulation, accelerates tissue repair or kills bacteria.

Laboratory studies have shown that skin cells can regenerate themselves from 150% to 200% faster when exposed to certain LED wavelengths and hydration can be increased by up to 600%.

LED therapy uses light of up to three different wavelengths. The exact combination of LED wavelengths will be chosen to suit each individual patient’s own requirements (see our FAQs for more information on LED lightwaves).

LED therapy is a very gentle and relaxing treatment. There are no sharp or burning sensations at all. The skin may feel warm or glowing in response to the boost to circulation, but this is quite tolerable and most find it very pleasant. In fact, exposure to LED light can increase serotonin levels, which helps to relieve stress. Patients find it a very enjoyable and therapeutic treatment.

Patients can expect a visible though sometimes subtle improvement in skin quality and texture. This can include improvement in acne, open pores, fine lines, sun damage, and sometimes pigmentation.

LED therapy is suitable for all skin types. In fact, it can be used very successfully to treat inflammatory problems such as acne, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis.

No – there have been no reported side effects in over 1,700 clinical studies. There is no risk of irritation or side effects and it does not harm the body.

No, LED Phototherapy does not contain the UV rays that stimulate the melanin in the skin to produce a ‘sun tan’ effect. However, these rays can be harmful.  LED waves are very different. These stimulate hydration and blood circulation and will give your skin a healthy and radiant glow.

There is no need to avoid sun exposure as LED does not make your skin photosensitive. It is safe both before and after sun exposure and can even help sun damage. However, we always recommend minimising sun exposure and use of a good quality, high protection sunscreen.

Dermalux LED has won a series of Aesthetics Awards:

  • 2018 Energy Treatment of the Year (Commended)
  • 2017 Energy Treatment of the Year (Winner)
  • 2016 Treatment of the Year (Winner)
  • 2015 Best Treatment (Winner)
  • 2014 Best New Treatment (Winner)
  • 2013 Best New Product or Treatment (Winner)

No, it won’t make your body produce vitamin D, as it does not use UV light. The body’s natural production of vitamin D is in response to UV light which converts cholesterol found naturally in the body to vitamin D3.

This is a very non-invasive treatment and does not require the ‘downtime’ or recovery that may be associated with more invasive procedures.

Dermalux is mainly used on the face but is also suitable for use on the body. For example, acne can be tackled on the neck/décolleté and eczema on the hands can be improved.

Dermalux LED skin therapy can literally be used on all skin types. With darker skin-tones, we may adjust the settings and give a longer exposure time.

LED Phototherapy does not use heat or chemicals and the light does not contain harmful UV wavelengths and so cannot damage skin cells.

It offers one of the safest ways to treat all skin types and conditions without risk of irritation, unwanted side effects or downtime.

This can vary with age, skin type and condition.

A single session of Dermalux™ will get to work replenishing hydration and calming irritated skin and will usually deliver a quite noticeable difference.

However, for full results, a course of treatments is generally recommended for optimum results.

Maintenance treatments may also be recommended, depending on the condition being treated.

There are certain medications which may make LED therapy unsuitable. Your consultation with Dr John Tanqueray will include full discussion of any relevant medical information. As a former GP, he is superbly knowledgeable and able to advise on these issues.

Following a Dermalux™ treatment, there are some immediate visible changes in the skin but most changes occur naturally over a series of treatments.

Results can improve up to 4 to 6 weeks after a course as the effects of LED phototherapy continue to work within the skin to rejuvenate and improve its quality.
