Tixel® Thermal Fractional Rejuvenation

Skin Rejuvenation System

Thermo-Mechanical Ablation

Tixel® is a highly innovative concept in skin rejuvenation which can offer results equivalent to aggressive laser or deep peels, but with a much faster recovery time.

Tixel® is based on Thermo-Mechanical Ablation (TMA) technology, which is less painful and far safer than the lasers or peels which may previously have been used for more intensive treatments. Yet Tixel®’s results are quite comparable to the more traditional technologies.

Tixel® Treatment Areas

Tixel® is a versatile and flexible system, thanks to 3 treatment modalities. It can be used for treatments including:

  • skin tightening and rejuvenation
  • eye rejuvenation
  • cheek rejuvenation
  • pigmentation, hyperpigmentation, melasma
  • skin texture improvement
  • skin tone improvement

3 Treatment Modes

Tixel® is a very versatile treatment system which uses a heated plate to deliver the required amount of heat to the surface of the skin very quickly, without damaging deeper skin tissues.

Ablative treatment:

Ablative is the most intensive treatment, which can give effective results on skin tightening and scar treatment. Tixel® creates channels in the skin to promote more intensive healing. Results will be similar to deep chemical peel or fractional CO2 laser resurfacing treatment with 2+ days recovery time.

Non-Ablative treatment:

Non-ablative treatment can ultimately give the same skin tightening result as the ablative treatment, but will require more treatments, but being less aggressive, requires no recovery time. Results will be similar to medium chemical peel but without the recovery time.

“Open-Channel” treatment:

Open-channel treatment makes the skin porous in order to allow penetration of topical treatments. This can be used in treatment of skin pigmentation problems such as Melasma or Hyperpigmentation.

What Our Expert Says:

Tixel® FAQ

This will depend on the area being treated, but treatment is relatively quick to carry out, as the contact of heat with the skin is extremely brief.

The Tixel® machine is surprisingly compact, there’s nothing to be afraid of. It consists of a small operating screen where configurations can be set with a handpiece which delivers the heat energy to the skin.

Tixel treatment system

The treatment is remarkably comfortable and can be performed without anaesthetic cream.

However, we do also offer the option of anaesthetic cream for 30 minutes beforehand to maximise comfort, and because the eye and mouth area can be more sensitive.

This depends on the treatment mode. Ablative treatment takes fewer sessions, but each one is more aggressive so involves a couple of days of the skin crusting and scabbing. Most patients prefer to stay at home during this time.

Non-ablative or channel treatments will take a few more sessions, but there will be no need to have time off work.

As above, this will depend on the treatment carried out. We will recommend a couple of days off work after ablative treatment as this is will cause a spell of skin redness, possibly with some scabbing.

The non-ablative treatment is much easier to tolerate. Initial redness can be disguised with make-up and patients can return straight to normal activities.

We will fully discuss the treatment options at your consultation appointment.

Working out the best treatment programme to meet your needs means taking full account of your working commitments and social schedule, as well as the result you’re trying to achieve and details of your skin type.

We will give you plenty of advice including information about recovery times and numbers of sessions required.

For the stronger ablative type treatments, your skin will be red following treatment. It is likely to feel hot and tight for a few hours and may sting. However, this will pass by the next day.

With less aggressive treatments you will feel more of a ‘glow’, which again, will pass by the next day.

This will be fully explained before your treatment. Key things to be aware of with treatments of this nature are:

  • Avoid touching the treated area in order to minimise the risk of infection
  • Don’t be tempted to pick at any peeling or crustiness – this will take about a week to pass
  • It is important to use good sun protection for up to 3 months after treatment

Before & After TIXEL Photos

These before and after pictures show results 10 weeks after just one session of treatment. Skin is visibly fresher and more youthful. Lines and wrinkles are far less obvious and pigmentation is also reduced. The skin is generally fresher and more youthful.
