In Mulberry House Clinic’s 20th anniversary newsletter, Dr John Tanqueray introduced the ‘Photo Fabulous’ treatment, predicting that it will be one to watch in the coming years.
Photo Fabulous is as much a concept as a treatment, as it describes the idea of improving the way skin looks – both in photos and in real life. Yet at Mulberry House Clinic, Photo Fabulous is also a non-surgical combination procedure that can be used on its own or alongside other treatments to boost the health, condition and appearance of the skin.

“This combines IPL and laser treatment in the same session.
“We have found that for most people with discolouration from sun damage just 2 of these treatments can give a brighter smoother complexion which will add a new dimension to existing benefits from treatments such as Botox and fillers.”
What is IPL treatment?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light and is a light-based treatment – there are no injections or chemicals involved. Treatment involves delivery of short pulses of light to the skin. The wavelengths of light can be filtered so that particular tissue and tissue depth is affected in preference to normal skin.
IPL helps to even out skin tone but reducing pigmentation caused by sun damage along with redness and broken surface blood vessels. It can also have a subtle effect on collagen and elastin production.
What is Laser treatment?
Laser uses light energy of a single wavelength so every laser device has its own specific effect on the skin. The Resurfx laser is non-ablative (it does not damage or breach the skin surface) and fractional (instead of treating the whole area it treats the skin surface in a number of small dots). This makes this laser safe and aids quick recovery.
We can vary the strength of treatment according to how close the laser dots are to each other (treatment area), and how much energy goes into each dot (treatment depth), so treatment can be optimised to the individual. In general stronger treatment will give quicker results but more downtime but milder treatment will give results but may require more treatments.
