Northamptonshire-based Mulberry House Clinic is now an Accredited Treatment Centre of the Acne and Rosacea Association UK (ARA UK).
This accreditation was achieved after Dr John Tanqueray, founder, Aesthetic Doctor and former-GP, trained with the ARA (UK) founder, Professor Tony Chu.
Professor Tony Chu created the ARA (UK) charity in order to educate doctors, clinics, dermatologists, nurses and pharmacists about acne and rosacea. Training includes understanding the development of these common skin problems, complications that may arise and how to effectively treat the many different cases.
The ARA (UK) says that acne and rosacea are both quite common in the UK:
- 85% of people will have acne at some point in their lives
- Rosacea affects 1 in 10 people
The condition can affect not only the appearance of the skin but also the quality of life, confidence and self-esteem.
The Acne and Rosacea Association UK charity says:
“Acne and rosacea can have a profound impact on the quality of life of sufferers but are sometimes poorly treated and can be trivialised by health professionals.”
Their Accredited Treatment Centres offer an opportunity for sufferers of acne and rosacea to find knowledgeable health professionals as well as suitable treatment options. The ARA (UK) website explains:
“An accredited acne and rosacea treatment centre is a clinic which treats acne and rosacea and all its complications.
“They follow correct medical processes in patient history, medical assessment and follow agreed protocols as recommended by Professor Chu and/or have strong medical evidence to support their usage.
“They offer traditional tried and tested protocols but also offer more advanced treatment protocols which are not routinely available through the NHS.
“They have been accredited by the President of the Charity Professor Tony Chu after studying with Professor Chu and attending his lectures on the subject and then completing a Knowledge review before being accredited and certificated.”
