Treating Nose to Mouth Lines

Nasolabial Folds (NLF)

Deepening nose to mouth lines are one of the early signs of ageing and a very common concern.

As we age, the nasolabial folds, which run from the edge of the nose to the corners of the mouth, often deepen and give the face a tired, sad or sagging expression. This area can distort the balance of the midface and change the relationship and balance between the lower and upper face.

The most common treatment for nose to mouth lines is dermal filler.

Using the latest hyaluronic acid fillers, doctors and practitioners can replenish the lost volume to build out the creases that appear over time. Facial filler injections can be carefully placed and built up to smooth out the lines for a fresher appearance.

However, this approach is not the only tactic.

Experienced Aesthetic Doctors understand that focusing on one area in isolation can lead to a less satisfactory result than seeing the face as a whole. There are other approaches which may give a more holistic result.

8 Point Facelift / Multi Point Facelift

The 8-Point Face Lift, or Mulberry House Clinic’s more sophisticated development, the multi-point facelift are both procedures which use dermal fillers in a very specific way. A number of injection points are used to lift the facial tissues for a fresher look. This can certainly benefit the nose to mouth lines, but as part of a more global lift. The procedure adds volume to smooth out the skin tissues, but also adds structure beneath the skin to improve the facial contours and perk up sagging tissues.

BOTOX Injections

Sometimes, prominent nose to mouth lines are caused by strong or overactive muscle activity in the area. Botulinum toxin may be used to lessen the movement in the area, so that the skin is stretched less and able to drape more smoothly.

Advanced Skin Technology

Finally, a host of advanced technology options are now available.  These work in various ways to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. Treatment can be focused on the specific nose to mouth area, but often a better result is seen by addressing this area within the whole context of facial ageing.
