Plexr® Soft Surgery System

For the majority of patients, Mulberry House Clinic tend to recommend alternative treatments for the eye area such as Tixel thermal fractional rejuvenation treatment.

We find that other treatments give better results in most cases. The information on Plexr® is therefore provided primarily for reference.

“One of the commonest problem areas we are asked about is the skin around the eyes, as we tend to develop heaviness and sagging above the eyes, and crepey and crinkled skin under the eyes.

“Historically, we were only able to offer some subtle improvements with treatments like BotoxPRP and skin creams, and some more helpful improvement with radiofrequency; but otherwise for a more significant result the choice has only been surgery.

“The great news is that we now have new options for improving the eye area without resorting to surgery. Please contact us or book a consultation for advice.”

Soft Surgery System

plexrPlexr® is promoted as an effective alternative to surgical procedures such as upper blepharoplasty (eye lift and/or eye bag surgery).

It can also be used for a face lift or neck lift without surgery as well as treating lines and wrinkles, acne, scars and skin blemishes such as moles, warts and age spots.

As a non-surgical approach it involves no cutting of the skin, no stitches and doesn’t need a local anaesthetic injection – numbing cream is sufficient.

How Does Plexr® Work?

Plasma Energy Ionisation

The Plexr® treatment is carried out with a special probe-like instrument, which ionises the gas particles in the air between its tip and the patient’s skin. The ionisation creates an electrical arc to the skin which causes ‘sublimation’ – meaning that the tissue goes from a solid to gas state preventing unwanted spread of heat downwards or across the skin. The tissue then retracts and tightens – which makes it suitable for non-surgical eye, face and neck lifts. Treatment involves a series of shots to treat and sculpt the area in question.

The Plexr® system uses plasma to deliver the energy, so there is no electric current which can cause problems for some patients.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Plexr® Treatment

Plexr® is an innovative ‘soft surgery treatment’. The non-invasive technique and equipment can be used to perform minor surgical procedures and cosmetic procedures without the need for surgery involving scalpels and anaesthesia.

Plexr® works by producing controlled plasma energy. This is delivered to the skin using a small hand-held probe which is simply held gently against the skin.

The process works by removing targeted skin cells with heat and stimulating skin renewal by making tiny penetrations in your skin. This causes the skin to produce new collagen as part of the natural healing processes.

The result is firmer, tighter and fresher skin.

Yes it is a very safe procedure and an appealing alternative to surgery, as it requires no general anaesthetic, scalpels or even injections.  There is no risk of blindness which is a known potential risk of blepharoplasty and there is far less downtime/recovery.

This depends on the area being treated. For a small skin blemish no time off should be necessary. After having treatment for the eyelids there will be some swelling and crusting and anything up to a week off may be required.

The procedure itself normally takes less than 30 minutes to perform and could be as little as 10 minutes for small areas.

However, this timing does not include the application and activation of numbing cream. It also does not account for the very important consultation stage.

Yes – there are no restrictions on skin colour or tone at all.

The consultation is held with Dr John Tanqueray, who carries out careful consultations as an essential preparation for all treatments.

During consultation, the patient’s relevant medical history is taken and discussions ensure full understanding of what is to be achieved. Only then is treatment planned and discussed.

If both doctor and patient are fully in agreement to proceed, then a date can be arranged for treatment to take place.

This treatment can feel hot, tingly, stingy or burn-like; but is relatively short-lived. The use of a local anaesthetic numbing cream will minimise the discomfort, but there is still a sensation as the probe is applied.

There is low risk of major side effects, but there are some potential minor side-effects to be aware of.

  • The area will often be red, warm, tender and tingly immediately after the procedure. Swelling is common and often lasts several days, especially with the delicate skin around the eyes. Cold compresses and paracetamol can be used.
  • In the days following the procedure there will be the appearance of tiny dark spots – it is important to keep this crusting/scabbing clean dry and protected.
  • We supply a camouflage cream for use for 4 weeks after the treatment. It is important to use this to assist the healing process.
  • If the area becomes very red and hot or has any oozing, then patients should contact the clinic for advice. As a former GP, Dr John Tanqueray is always on hand to advise on all aspects of recovery.

Results are seen instantly although the best appearance will build up over a period of around 3 weeks.

Anything between one and three treatments should be sufficient to give a pleasing result.
