The future of aesthetic treatments

“Early years of aesthetics (ie the last 2 decades) have emphasised use of Botox and fillers.
“These are great for rapid improvements in lines, wrinkles, facial shape and volume. Without doubt in the right hands these have been extremely successful at helping refresh the appearance and improve self-confidence quickly and relatively easily.
“These treatments can help virtually anyone, but they are not always the complete answer.
“The additional benefits of looking after the skin condition -brighter, smoother and more even-coloured skin – have become recognised. So much so that the range of effective options now available has become almost bewildering!
“More choice make for harder decisions but we believe it is our job to offer treatments we believe to be worthwhile, but also to guide you through their merits and drawbacks in order to help you make sensible decisions.
“Botox and fillers are usually quite predictable in most cases and the cost-benefit decision is fairly clear-cut. When we have treatments that either take a little longer to work, or where the results can be a little more subjective it becomes very important to have a good rationale for choice of treatment.
“The conflicting issues around treatment choice will revolve around a combination of:
- Effectiveness
- Cost
- Potential side-effects and risks
- Downtime
- Any discomfort associated with treatment
- Number and frequency of treatment”
