Acne & Rosacea Association UK
Did you know, Mulberry House Clinic is an ARA Accredited Treatment Centre, demonstrating the company’s commitment to treating patients with acne and all its complications.
The Acne & Rosacea Association UK is a registered charity which aims to improve the management of these diseases by training Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacists on the best ways of treating them and solutions.
Mulberry House Clinic has met the organisation’s criteria by offering comprehensive range of treatments dedicated to helping those with acne, as well as its after effects including acne scarring.
Acne in the UK
Acne is a widespread condition and not isolated to the youth. It affects an estimated:
- 70% of people over 20 experiencing acne at some point
- 85% of 12-24 year olds experiencing at least minor acne
A survey by the British Skin Foundation in 2015 found that 95% of people say acne has an impact on their daily lives with 63% reporting a loss of confidence due to the condition.
Care for acne patients
Charities have voiced concerns in the media about the way acne is perceived by the public but also by medical practitioners, many of whom consider acne as something of a life-stage, rather than a serious condition. Experts say it is not being taken seriously enough due to the potential psychological impact stemming from the visible signs and symptoms. Yet GPs are often ill-equipped and under-resourced to do much other than refer patients for medication.
It has also become apparent that many skin clinics have little to offer the acne patient, preferring instead to focus on popular anti-ageing injectables rather than treating the condition of the skin.
At Mulberry House Clinic, the clinic has a very medical bias. It was established by former GP Dr John Tanqueray who has extensive expertise in skin care, along with former SRN nurse Liz Tanqueray. With a background in wider medicine, the clinic team have always been keen to address the wider skin needs beyond cosmetic and anti-ageing. It is a holistic approach dedicated to helping clients with skin conditions just as much as those who are looking to turn back the clock.
The team at Mulberry House Clinic recognise that acne in particular can have a devastating effect on an individual, with psychological implications as well as physical.
