IPL delivers precisely controlled pulses of light absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft and follicle. The light converts to heat, damaging the follicle and preventing it from producing new hair — while leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.
Because hair grows in cycles, a course of six treatments is recommended. Each session treats the follicles in their active growth phase — spaced several weeks apart to catch each successive batch at the right point in their cycle.
What to expect.
IPL hair removal can be used on virtually any area of the body — legs, bikini line, underarms, chest, back, and facial areas including the upper lip and chin. Treatment is fast: small areas take as little as five minutes.
Most patients describe a brief elastic-band snap during treatment. There is no downtime. Mild redness occasionally occurs and typically settles within a few hours.
IPL works best on black, brown and dark red hair. It is not effective on very blonde, grey or white hair. A patch test and skin assessment will be carried out before your first full treatment.
