Since the launch of IPL (Intensed Pulsed Light) hair removal at our Northamptonshire skin clinic, we’ve been seeing some excellent results for our patients.
Mulberry House Clinic launched advanced IPL hair removal treatment with the new Lumenis IPL device at the beginning of 2019. Since then, many patients have been treated and seen fabulous results.
Success Where Previous Treatment Hadn’t Worked
Laser practitioner Liz Tanqueray has recently treated a client who’d already had a series of treatments at a high street clinic with no results. Within the first 2 treatments, the patient is already seeing a very pleasing amount of hair reduction and this will improve with further sessions.

Success Using IPL for Lighter Hair
Treating lighter hair was always a limitation with laser technologies, which looked for a strong contrast between darker coloured hair and lighter skin.
IPL hair removal also works by absorbing light energy into the melanin of the hair, but the Lumenis M22 intense pulsed light system uses advanced technology, making it effective for a much wider range of hair and skin types.
- Anyone with brunette/brown or black hair that contrasts noticeably against a lighter skin tone can generally expect to get an excellent result from treatment.
- Clients with fair, blonde, red or ginger hair may assume they’re not able to have hair removal, but the new advanced IPL treatment may yet be suitable.
- Those with white or very light grey hair may not be suitable as there is likely to be insufficient melanin to absorb the light energy.
- Clients with brunette/brown or black hair who have tanned or brown skin tone may assume that they can’t have treatment, but again, with the new advanced IPL, we are able to treat many people who previously would have been unsuitable.

Liz will then recommend the most appropriate hair removal system (as the clinic still offers both laser and IPL systems) and give honest advice about what sort of results you can expect over a course of treatment – how much hair each session will treat and how the hair reduction will progress.
