Radiesse Dilute & Hyperdilute

What if there was a single filler treatment that could behave like any filler you could choose, from a stiff gel that will hold its shape (for example for the jawline), to a firm gel that will add volume (eg for the cheeks), to a softer gel to shape or sculpt the facial contours, or even to a collagen-stimulating liquid that doesn’t add volume at all but will improve the skin quality in a very natural way?

Lets look at RADIESSE®, which does exactly that.

What is RADIESSE®?

The key component of RADIESSE® are tiny particles made of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHa), a compound that has been used in medical/surgical treatments since the 1990’s, and a gel. It was introduced as a facial treatment as long ago as 2001, and we first used it in Mulberry House Clinic around 2006.

RADIESSE® acts as a filler and gives an immediate result. The CaHa component has an effect on the fibroblast cells in the skin to make more collagen as well as natural hyaluronic acid, both of which are important for normal structure and function in the skin. This stimulation lasts for approximately 12 months.

Because Radiesse is stiffer than other fillers it is ideal for providing definition and we like it particularly for the jawline and chin.

How can it be used differently?

RADIESSE Dilute

Over the years it has been found that when RADIESSE® is diluted its properties change – as it is diluted (hence the term “RADIESSE Dilute”) its properties as a filler change as it becomes less viscous – in fact there is a paper published describing how properties of a number of well-known fillers can be reproduced by diluting by very specific amounts!

RADIESSE Hyperdilute

As it is diluted further (now called “RADIESSE Hyperdilute”) RADIESSE® is no longer a filler (it adds no volume) but becomes a collagen-stimulating liquid, leaving behind just the particles that will have a collagen-stimulating effect over coming months.

This range of options makes RADIESSE® extremely versatile.

What is it diluted with?

Traditionally it has been diluted with saline, but there is now evidence that results are enhanced by using a skin nutrient mixture containing the amino-acids, vitamins and minerals that are required for collagen production.

Yes, in fact there is evidence that used alongside other collagen-stimulating treatments, such as Ultherapy, the degree of collagen stimulation is improved further.

There are over 220 peer-reviewed papers published internationally on Radiesse, making it one of the most intensely researched fillers. A good number of these relate to its use in dilute form, including use of skin micronutrients.

RADIESSE dilute can be used in any skin on the body. We use it for the face, neck, décolleté and hands, but it has also been used in the upper arms, abdomen, knees and even the elbows.

Costs vary depending on the amount of product required to achieve the right result. See our price list for an indication. Prices will be confirmed during your consultation.

NB Radiesse Dilute or Hyperdilute is outside the approved license of Radiesse. However its use in this way has been widespread internationally by consensus for some time, the number of publications and its well-understood mechanism of action gives us confidence to recommend its use.
