What is laser skin resurfacing?

Laser resurfacing is an advanced treatment improves the outer layer of skin by promoting growth of new skin cells, thereby improving the skin’s texture and appearance.

After treatment, the skin soon starts to look more radiant with a more even complexion and smoother texture at its surface. However, these benefits continue to build and increase for a few weeks as the treatment also boosts production of collagen, improving the skin’s texture, firmness and resilience from within.

Laser skin resurfacing is an advanced treatment which can be adjusted to target specific areas. So whether it’s lines around the mouth or eyes, or acne scarring on the cheekbones, the treatment can be configured to tackle your concerns. It can effectively reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, rough skin and wrinkles/lines; and is especially helpful in treating acne scars.

If you’re considering having laser skin resurfacing treatment, it’s important to understand that not all systems are the same. One of the key differences is whether the laser treatment is ablative or non-ablative. Ablative skin resurfacing destroys the top layer of skin. This is a more invasive procedure which involves more recovery time. By comparison, non-ablative laser treatment doesn’t damage the outer layer of skin at all, but instead penetrates the skin’s inner layers to boost cell renewal from within.

ResurFX™

Fractional Non-Ablative Treatment

Mulberry House Clinic based in Northamptonshire offers fractional non-ablative laser skin resurfacing treatment with ResurFX™, part of the M22 system.

ResurFX™ is described as a non-ablative photo-fractional skin resurfacing and rejuvenation treatment, which offers a unique combination for efficacy as well as ease:

  • Non-ablative – the treatment does not destroy skin cells, which means minimum side effects and fast recovery
  • Fractional – the laser is delivered in tiny ‘dots’ rather than all over, so it directly affects only a small proportion of the skin, while working very effectively to stimulate all of the skin in the treatment area

“We could not treat scarring previously and could only make minor differences to skin quality and texture, but can now achieve good results with the new ResurFX™ laser that is part of the new device.”
