Tixel , the innovative skin technology for Thermal Fractional Rejuvenation, has received coveted approval by the FDA in the USA for dermatological procedures requiring ablation and resurfacing of the skin.
Approval from the FDA (Food and Drugs Administration in the USA) is an achievement which involves collating and submitting a large amount of evidence on the treatment. This encompasses aspects relating to the safety of the treatment as well as its efficacy.
Tixel technology launched in the UK in 2018 and has been available in Europe for a few years. However, it takes time to gather the case studies and results required before going through the process of achieving FDA approval.
Dr John Tanqueray, MB BCh MRCGP DCH DRCOG DipOccMed BCAMTIX, is a Tixel practitioner as well as former GP, Aesthetic Doctor and Founder of Mulberry House Clinic. He welcomed the news, saying:
“Congratulations to Novoxel, Tixel’s manufacturer, for achieving this”
Mr Evgeny Piven, CEO of Novoxel said in a public statement:
“To get the first FDA clearance for Tixel was one of our primary goals. This achievement is the result of hard work by Novoxel employees, assisted by our worldwide key opinion leaders. We’re very grateful that we can now offer this product to physicians in the United States. Since launching Tixel in Europe and many other countries several years ago, we have seen a growing demand from physicians and patients for our unique products.”
Ronen Shavit, chief technology officer, added:
“Tixel products are registered and marketed in over 30 countries which are continuously contributing to our clinical experience. 15 clinical studies and research papers have been published in leading peer-reviewed journals.
“Novoxel is focused on continuing its clinical research, product development and expansion of our product portfolio and indications.”
Tixel Thermal Fractional Rejuvenation
Tixel is a unique skin treatment which uses Thermo-Mechanical Ablation (TMA) technology combining intense heat (385-400 °C) with a brief contact to the skin (a few milliseconds), delivered through a metal element tipped with miniature pyramids. The brief application of intense heat through metal needles creates a superficial thermal effect in the tissue, generating coagulation sites in the skin.
In non-ablative mode, the dermal heating and coagulative effects trigger dermal remodelling and collagen restructuring which promotes reduction in the appearance of wrinkles. As the skin’s rejuvenation processes develop in the weeks following treatment, further benefits are to see the skin tighten and lift for a younger look.
In ablative mode, Tixel can also be used to create temporary channels into the skin, which enables any serums or products after the heat treatment to penetrate much deeper than normal for enhanced benefit. Research has demonstrated that skin permeability is significantly enhanced after pretreating with Tixel
Tixel treatment can provide clinical effects comparable to those of a fractional pulsed laser, fractional CO₂ and erbium lasers; yet it is considered to be a much less invasive treatment option.
Heat is a natural source of energy which appeals to clients looking for a more natural way to achieve anti-ageing results. This is the ideal solution for patients who prefer to avoid injections or lasers, yet the treatment can deliver remarkable results.
