Fillers and How to Avoid Pillow Face

cosmetic treatmentDermal Fillers

The term ‘pillow face’ has become common parlance in the media to describe people (usually celebrities) who have over-indulged in dermal fillers, creating a puffiness around the facial features.

Fillers are designed to replenish lost volume within the skin that can be lost with the ageing process. Many use hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance which retains moisture within the skin for a natural approach, simulating nature. However, hyaluronic acid is incredibly powerful in that it can hold many times its own volume in water – so a little goes a very long way.

Too much facial filler product means that the skin will go from being loose and saggy to having too much volume, so that it can look puffy and a bit ‘unreal’.

However, when used correctly and tastefully, dermal fillers can provide a very natural-looking result.

Dermal Filler Products

Filler injections are incredibly versatile. The Juvederm range offers a variety of formulations available to suit the different areas of the face and different needs.

For covering a wider area of lost volume, Juvéderm® Voluma® is a good choice for generalised volume loss and reshaping. It provides maximum lift with minimum volume of product and its flexibility means that any area of the face can be treated.

For finer detail, the original Juvéderm® Ultra products can target more precise areas such as lines and wrinkles to smooth out the creases in the skin.

Filler Doctors and Practitioners

The other factor is about the practitioner. There are no minimum training or qualification standards for those administering dermal fillers, so skill and experience level do vary.

The best advice is to choose a medically qualified practitioner who has extensive experience and additional training in carrying out cosmetic injections.

Dermal Filler Consultation

For anybody considering dermal filler treatment, it is important to be as informed as possible.  Mulberry House Clinic in Northamptonshire based company offer a range of Juvederm filler options.

All patients start with an initial consultation in order to assess their needs as well as any pertinent medical background and past treatments, before recommending the most appropriate treatment option. There is no pressure to proceed until both patient and doctor are completely satisfied with the treatment programme.

All consultations and treatments are carried out by Dr John Tanqueray, who works closely with Allergan and is also an accredited UK trainer. Dr Tanqueray has carried out cosmetic injections since 1999 and is renowned for a natural looking result which is never overdone.
