Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a technique which deploys multiple tiny injections with a very fine needle.

This treatment has three key benefits:

  1. Immediate delivery of carefully chosen substances directly into the mid layer of the skin, where they can be most readily absorbed and take action
  2. Stimulating cell renewal and healing – the skin’s natural reaction to the tiny injuries caused by the series of injections. This includes production of collagen and elastin
  3. Boosting blood flow to the area

Benefits of Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is an incredibly versatile procedure and the benefits depend to a certain extent on what solution is used for the injections. The solutions we use contain over 70 ingredients which are known to influence metabolism of hyaluronic acid and collagen, both of which are crucial for hydrated, radiant and firm skin. We can use bespoke combinations of these key ingredients to maximise results whether for improving skin quality and helping puffiness around the eyes, reducing fine lines, or firming the face, neck or hands.

Potential uses of mesotherapy are:

  • Firmer, hydrated skin
  • Brighter, more radiant skin
  • Reduce lines and wrinkles
  • Reduce acne scars
  • Reduce pigmentation

Mesotherapy results in brighter, healthier and younger-looking skin.

At Mulberry House Clinic, the primary use of mesotherapy is for tackling fine lines, specifically in the delicate area around the eyes.

Mesotherapy FAQ

Not at all, it was invented in 1952 by Dr Michel Pistor.

It has been widely used for some time in the rest of Europe but has taken some time to be accepted in the UK. We think this is partly because many preparations available have lacked scientific evidence.

The solutions we use employ over 70 active ingredients including hyaluronic acid (HA), vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, peptides, polyphenols, flavonoids and trace elements.

Solutions available can be tailored to the requirements of the individual based on age and skin quality to optimise the result.

Our mesotherapy solutions are from the RRS range made by Skintech Pharma www.rrs-inject.com

Costs vary depending on the product used and amount required. See our price list for information about costs of treatment.

Typically mesotherapy treatment starts with an initial course of 6 treatments.

For maintenance purposes treatments can be repeated at intervals depending on your response.

Yes, treatment is very safe.

The solutions used are subject to rigorous quality and safety standards.

Minimal – there can be some blotchiness and mild swelling for several hours after treatment, but most patients return straight to normal activities.

Although the skin is injected multiple times, the combination of super-fine needles and our mesotherapy injection techniques means that there is very little in the way of bleeding – sometimes none at all.

We understand that some patients dislike the idea of needles, but the actual mesotherapy process is surprisingly pain-free. The needles are a lot finer than those used in dental or immunisation and patients are surprised how comfortable treatment actually is. It’s best described as a pinching sensation.

If you are nervous or treatment is in a more sensitive area, we can use an anaesthetic gel in advance of treatment.

We recommend:

  • No makeup for the rest of the day, to keep the skin clean and minimise risk of infection
  • Avoid hot showers or saunas for the rest of the day, as the heat can slow down healing

There are usually some visible blebs or blotchiness at the site of treatment, but these usually settle within a few hours. Bruising is uncommon because treatment is so superficial.

Patients usually notice that their skin is more radiant after the first session, although we generally recommend a short course of treatments for the best results to be seen.

Results develop over time as collagen is built.

Dr Tanqueray

“The thin skin around the eyes is notoriously difficult to treat in view of the sensitive anatomy here, but we now have some answers for this.

“Amongst a quite confusing maze of products that are out there we have found an effective treatment for improving skin quality and puffiness in this region.

“Having now seen the results for ourselves we are confident enough to offer this as an addition to our established treatments. ”
