Lip Filler Trends 2018

Demand for lip fillers in the UK has risen exponentially over the last decade and google search data shows that it is continuing to rise, reaching an all time high in July 2018.

However, anecdotal evidence points to a shift in the way clients want their lip fillers to be done towards a more subtle and sympathetic look. The ‘trout pout’ seems to be out of favour with more and more clients.

Celebrity Kylie Jenner, one of the most renowned users of lip enhancement injections, actually had her lip filler removed and sparked a debate about the ‘fashion’ aspect of treatment.

Vogue magazine said:

“Kylie Jenner has officially said farewell her most career-defining beauty asset.”

While a feature in The Guardian asked:

“Kylie Jenner has removed her lip fillers – is this the end of an astonishingly popular procedure?

Going on to say:

“The reality star has reversed the look she rocketed back to popularity, but the aquarium-like charm of an augmented pout is still very much in evidence on Love Island”

Lip Filler Still In Fashion

It is not that lip fillers have fallen out of fashion.

They are a very popular and effective treatment, enabling clients still to improve the appearance of their lips. They can add volume to thin lips, improve the balance in uneven lips and add shape to the overall mouth for a more attractive look.

They can also make a person look younger, smoothing out lines and creases that appear on and around the mouth with age, which is particularly a problem for smokers and sun worshippers.

Less is More?

There does seem to be a shift to a more subtle look, with clients are now expressing concern about NOT wanting to look overdone – and hoping to achieve a result which is flattering and pretty rather than strong and pouty. Soft and attractive.

Northampton Lip Fillers

The natural and subtle look is favoured by practitioners and patients at Mulberry House Clinic, based in Hardingstone near Northampton.

Dr John Tanqueray excels in carrying out treatments designed to improve facial harmony and look. His treatment philosophy is based on the ‘less is more’ approach, which is more cost-effective and holistic, taking a long-term view of treatment with the patient’s best interests at heart.

He says:

“The features of the face should fit together so that they all give an impression of the same age – it would not be right to have a perfect mouth but find the rest of the face looking much older for example.

“Most people do not want to look different, they just want to feel like themselves at their best.”
