Autumn & Winter IPL Hair Removal

IPL hair removal experts say that autumn and winter are the best times for having the permanent hair reduction treatment

Traditionally, the spring and summer are popular times for starting laser or IPL hair removal; as patients like to start courses to be ready for a summer holiday without the daily hassle of shaving legs or underarms.

However, IPL is not suitable for tanned skin, so you need to avoid sun exposure and sun beds as well as fake tan prior to treatment. The intense pulsed light energy targets colour contrast i.e. dark hair against pale skin – this contrast is at its greatest in winter when the hair isn’t sun bleached and the skin has little or no natural tan. That makes the winter months a better prospect than spring or summer, as there is little natural tan.

What’s more, during a course of IPL treatment, the skin is more more sensitive to the sun and needs to have additional protection with sunscreen whenever you are outdoors in daylight hours. In autumn/winter, most of us tend to go out less often and for less long, so this is much easier to accommodate. In addition, the body is naturally more covered with clothing in the winter – so no extra sun protection is required if it is an area not exposed, such as the legs, arms, bikini area or underarms.

One thing that many of those embarking on treatment do not realise that it takes a few months before the courses is finished, so treatment should really start as soon as possible. Treatments are normally every 3-4 weeks apart and a course is usually 6 treatments. Courses started in autumn will be complete by Easter and in plenty of time for the warmer summer days and holidays.

However, you don’t have to wait months to see the effect. Mulberry House Clinic have the latest IPL hair reduction technology and most clients notice some improvement after the first treatment. So by Christmas you’ll already be a couple of treatments into a course and shaving less already.

A course of treatment will treat nearly all the hair in the area for a thorough result that will leave your skin smooth and free of unsightly hair growth or rough stubble – and a life without daily shaving or painful waxing.
