Facial Peels

Peels are useful for an improvement in the skin tone and texture that you can see and feel.

They are also used as treatment for acne and acne scarring. Peels essentially strip away the outer layer of dead skin cells in an intensive exfoliation, leaving the skin looking fresher and more radiant. This has a long term benefit too, as the peel stimulates production of new skin cells.

We use the following peel regimens:

The 3-Step Peel is a relatively new addition to our range. It is a more aggressive peel than some of our gentler options and is based on salicylic acid, lactic acid and TCA, so the results will be more pronounced than with Epionce or ZO Stimulator peels. Therefore there will be a little downtime in the form of redness and dryness with some peeling after a few days.

The 3-Step Peel is carried out as a course, and the effects build with each treatment.

3 Step Peel by ZO Medical – Video

ZO Controlled Depth Peel is a peel that gives younger, healthier looking skin. It helps with sun damage, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and acne scars.

ZO Controlled Depth Peel is unique because it allows us to accurately control the depth and speed that the peel penetrates. This is done by combining the peeling solution, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), with a special blue base (this is similar to the ‘blue peel‘ offered by other brands).

Like the Blue Peel, the Controlled Depth Peel is a “Designer Peel”, tailored to each person’s individual needs, both in terms of the improvements they are looking for and the time they can spare for skin recovery to take place.

The peel process itself takes 20-30 minutes during which a series of layers of solution are applied to the skin. With each coat a hot sensation will be felt for a couple of minutes, and this can be controlled with a fan.

By the end of the procedure the face appears blue – much of this colour is washed off with cleanser.

Afterwards the skin may appear reddened, and after 2-3 days some peeling will start. Following a lighter peel this process is mild and will be finished within a short time, after a deeper peel the peeling can take up to 7 or 10 days to complete.

After the process has finished the dead skin cells will be replaced by healthier ones so that the skin will appear and feel smoother, clearer and tighter.

Depending on the effects you wish to achieve the 3-Step Peel can be repeated. You may decide to have a series of lighter peels to create the same effect as one or two deeper ones.

Dr Obagi himself is good evidence that by using OBAGI Nu-Derm and having a peel once a year your skin really does not need to age!

The ZO Stimulator peel is a superficial peel which offers instant results with very little downtime.

The peel combines citric, glycolic and lactic acids plus potent concentrations of other active ingredients. It is designed to exfoliate the skin, stripping away build up of dead skin cells and excess oils on the outer layer. It also works to stimulate cell turnover and the growth of collagen and elastin; which helps to reduce lines, wrinkles and other blemishes.

In addition, the ZO Stimulator contains a unique brightening complex which works to prevent the formation of pigmentation.

No peeling or flaking means that these peels do not interfere with day-to-day life, as they cause minimal or no redness afterwards.

Epionce’s chemical peels incorporate a combination of malic acid, salicylic acid and signature botanical ingredients (willow bark and onion bulb extract) which have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

The peel is carried out in a 4 step process, including:

  1. Preparation
  2. Malic acid
  3. Salicylic acid
  4. Neutralise

The peel can be adjusted and customised depending on individual requirements, so the steps can be used as standalone treatments or together so the practitioner can customise the treatment to your skin’s requirements.

Epionce peels are classes as ‘superficial’ which means they act on the outer layer of skin. As well as sloughing away the outer layer of dead skin cells, they also help to decongest the skin’s surface.

An Epionce peel is an ideal choice for freshening the skin. They cause little to no downtime. Clients may experience some flaking in the week following treatment, but this is not extreme. It can also help to improve skin conditions such as acne and rosacea.

Enerpeel provides us with range of several options. The differing depths of peel can be selected according to the conditions/issues being tackled and the desired results.

The Enerpeel range is attractive as the treatments offer clients the benefits of a deeper peel without the usual side-effects. The chemical agents in the peel penetrate the skin before they are activated, a process which minimises side-effects in the outer layer of the skin (epidermis) while maximising the benefit to the deeper layers. After treatment, the skin will look younger and fresher.

Mulberry House Clinic offer 5 choices in the Enerpeel range:

  • SA – Salicylic Acid 30% –  a good choice for oily and acne prone skin, this peel reduces oil production in the skin. It is very helpful while acne is inflamed, when many other peels would not be advisable
  • MA – Mandelic Acid 40% – this skin peel has anti-bacterial properties as well as exfoliating. It is especially helpful for cases of rosacea or reddening of the skin, as it also helps to enhance vascular turnover and regeneration
  • PA – Pyruvic Acid 50% – this is a good general-purpose chemical peel which can help to improve fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and acne
  • JS – Jessner’s – Salicylic Acid 15%, Lactic Acid 20%, Resorcinol 14% – the Jessner’s peel incorporates salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol. It is helpful in treating pigmentation problems and good for those with oily and acne-prone skin

The concentration can be gradually increased depending on the results required, allowing results similar to a higher strength peel with reduced risks

A popular peel for all skin types which can be used on non-facial areas (e.g. neck, decolletage) as well as facial.

The Easy TCA Peel causes the top layers of cells to dry up and peel off over a period of several days which reveals a new layer of undamaged skin with a smoother texture and more even colour.

Phenol is a strong and deep skin peel which has been shown to deliver long lasting effects and dramatic improvements in the patient’s skin.

Mulberry House Clinic offer both Easyphenol and Phenol peel for eyes and lips, which is gentler for these sensitive areas.

Facial Peels Reviews

We have a number of clients who have had such an improvement in their complexion that they no longer wear make-up, and have had compliments from people who didn’t know they had had any treatment.

“Even my brother, who normally takes no notice of my skin, told me how good it was looking.”
