What does it do?
Microdermabrasion is a treatment for exfoliating and stimulating the skin for a smoother, fresher look. Over time it can also improve fine lines, and helps acne. Aluminium oxide crystals are passed over the skin under a vacuum, the strength of which can be controlled to suit your skin.

Is it painful?
It is not a painful treatment, and most people find it quite pleasant.

How many treatments do I need, and how often should I have them?
For most people a course of 6 treatments is ideal, followed by further treatments from time to time. Treatments are usually done one to two weeks apart. If you are having treatment for acne or scarring a longer course may be necessary.

Are there any side-effects?
Usually the skin looks a little flushed afterwards for a few hours. After a more vigorous treatment there may be some redness for up to 24 hours, but this can be covered with a suitable camouflage such as Lycogel if necessary.
